The new alternative to the high cost of telephone service.
We've been handing over huge amounts of money every month to the big phone company, and charges keep going up as they come out with new calling features ... voicemail, caller ID, call waiting and so forth. And today the internet has progressed to the point that Voice Over Internet is now possible. When you dial you can reach anyone with a regular dial-based hard phone line. What's new, is that Voice Over IP (VOIP) is feature-packed and fully loaded. And in some cases it even offers features that land lines don't offer such as "music on hold." If you are still asking the question "is the quality good enough?" The answer is simple ... if you have high speed internet, then yes. It's pretty hard to tell the difference. The audio quality of a VOIP is excellent - much better than cellular. The big questions today ... are where do I sign up? Who should I sign up with? What hardware and software do I need? And what are the differences from one company to the next. We have been following this technology over the past ten years, and have put together this web site to help provide the answers to some of the questions. The biggest difference between the VOIP of today and in the years gone by, is that you can call ANYONE! Previously you could only call other VOIP phones. This was great if you have a buddy in another country, but everyone had to be on the same plan. Also new, is the ability to "port" numbers. This means you can keep your existing phone number whether in the US or Canada. Though our comparison chart today is small, it will grow over the upcoming weeks. We would love to hear your feeback about any VOIP service out there. |
